Kitten sleeping under decks Discussion on '' initiated by , . PetForums Junior On Monday this week my 7-week kitty decided I wanted to sleep under the duvet in my bed with me. Every time I pulled him out and put him on the duvet he'd find a way to get back in. After a while I was tired of not moving him and as he seemed happy, he slept there all night. During this time I was very aware that I was there and I kept checking to make sure that I was still breathing while I was worried, I could suffocate. He's still doing this for the rest of the week, so I'm sure there's no danger, but is there any security issues I should worry about not crushing him? Is this recommended as it seems happy enough? I've had cats before but none of them did this. Any thought would be kindly appreciated. Crazy Cat Lady of Bucks Hello and welcome to the forum My 15-week kitty does this and I'm not too worried, he slips near me and I think it makes him feel safe and the cats love to be cozy and warm. Where your kitten is very young and probably lacks your mom and co-fats wants to feel that closeness and safety of you that I wouldn't care too much. My old Timmy cat used to sleep under the duvet during the winter months, would go home from work to find a mound in the middle of the bed where he was sleeping PetForums Senior sarahecp said: Hello and welcome to the forum My 15-week kitty does this and I'm not too worried, he slips near me and I think it makes him feel safe and the cats love to be cozy and warm. Camino and I usually see a "coup" where he's gone and seems pretty happy like this, in a world of his own They seem to have the instinct to go out when it gets a little hot, wouldn't worry or try to stop it from doing this unless it's causing a major problem, just part of the union. PetForums VIP Hello, welcome to the crazy house Our Simba has to sleep under the shed or we pay expensive that has done it all her life " is almost 18 that makes a good back warmer  Our last MC used to do it but only if I had been out in the rain: incazzato:  PetForums Senior One of mine does it to crawl when we are asleep quickly usually at the bottom, she purifies that strong underneath there sounds like a tractor! PetForums VIP our 17.6 years has done this all his life. One of the most pleasant pleasures to have a hot furious friend sleeping happy against your back in the Poor Hubby bed always seems to have feet PetForums VIP My boys do this all the time, especially when it gets cold. One likes to sleep between my knees and will push my legs apart so it has enough space and the weight of the sheets and he's not on it. The other prefers the whirlwind of one arm, and they both kick on my top of the pajamas until they can put their little frost legs on my nice hot skin PetForums Junior Thank you all for your comments, happy to hear it's really normal! PetForums Senior Is that the right age? Seven weeks? If that's too young to be away from your mom, mine will be twice as much as when you leave me. Or raise it? My 7-week-old kittens curled along with their mom, they stay sleeping together normally up to 12 weeks then sometimes I find them sleeping apart. Your little kitten seems to be trying to find a replacement for mom/littermate in you. I can't comment on the security of sharing your bed with a 7-week kitten, but they're very small. Do you think a hot water bottle or a hot pad will help you feel safe? PetForums VIP Awww i'd love my cats do this !!! JEALOUS PetForums Junior If 7 weeks is the right age, I realize that it is very young for a kitten to leave his mother and literary and I did not plan to take it so early but there was concern about his safety and well-being. In my heart I thought it would be best to bring him home but I have a professional opinion of 2 different veterinarians who both gave almost the same advice - if there was any concern with his safety he would be better with me, especially since he was starting to eat kitty food and was not drinking much of his breast milk. The first night we brought him home didn't seem to lose his mother or his littermatoes in fact has settled very well and he loves to play with all his new toys and explore his new home. He's eating well and drinking a lot of water so I don't regret taking him from a young age as I know in my heart that he was the best thing for him. PetForums Junior I know some people may not agree with this, but I hope you can understand. PetForums Senior Every circumstance is different as every kitten, he understood his reasons and were aware of what they were taking in that not everyone is. In fact, you've encouraged him and now you're giving all the care his mother had given and his servant should have given. Your kitten has clearly joined very closely with you and is waiting for you to provide the warmth and comfort you need when you sleep. I think you have two options, you agree that you're going to sleep with you and probably will until it's too warm for him in the summer - unless it's a Siamese where nothing is too warm! Or he locked it in another room with a warm pad and a beautiful cozy bed set in motion - but it will probably cry for you and that can be hard to ignore. It is usually right to look at the larger picture and get away if a kitten is so badly taken care of after their concerns are about their health or safety, or the breeder will only continue to do so. But it's not easy to do, I'm not sure I can either. Please try to minimise stress on your system, keep it away from other cats and ensure that visitors use antibacco before touching it. It sounds like having a good relationship with your veterinarian, so take your advice on the worm and vaccines, etc. The best of luck and I'm sure it's better that I cuddle you than wandering under the bed. Katy PetForums Junior The last two nights he's slept at the top of the duvet next to me not below so I'll keep monitoring his behavior. 2 days after we brought him home we took him for a health check in the veterinarians, so he has already been given his first worm treatment and his first vaccines will be done at 9 weeks. We don't have other cats around so that won't be a problem. He seems very happy with us to be a bonus. Thanks for your advice. PetForums VIP Rowan just started going under the duvet - the girls sleep on top, if actaullay sleep on the bed. She's naked next to my stomach, with her claws outside, waving before she goes to bed. He went up this morning after OH went to work (to the stupid point) so I went back to sleep. He rose an hour later (still stupid in the morning) and Rowan was still under the decks but had his head off  So, in conclusion, I think they can make sure they're okay and they can breathe, they just want some fighting time. PetForums Junior Bless you! I have to say that I love it when it comes in and approaches! About us Fast navigation Open up.
